Trinity United Methodist Preschool

We are a Gold Seal School, a VPK provider, and a top-performing early education center that is home to 75 children per year.
Trinity United Methodist Preschool first opened its doors in the fall of 1973. We began with seventeen children aged 3 and 4 and met three mornings a week. Over the years we added a 2-year-old program, a Mother’s Morning Out for infants and toddlers, lunch hours, early morning drop-off, and a summer program. Today, we are a high-quality early education provider offering full-time options for families in the Tallahassee area.

Our program uses a thematic curriculum, which enables the children to learn through play. Each age group is provided with developmentally appropriate materials and projects--it’s fun with a function! For parents’ convenience, early drop-off is available between 7:30 and 8:55 a.m. for an additional fee. The school schedule is based on the public school calendar. An optional summer session is available.

Our Mission

Trinity United Methodist Preschool’s mission is to nurture and enrich the lives of children during the critical years of early learning and create the Christian and educational foundation for our students to flourish throughout their lives.

Our Philosophy

Trinity United Methodist Preschool will provide each child the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive sequential and developmental program of learning based upon the individual’s specific needs for life’s preparation in an ever-changing world. We feel that it is most important that your child learn through caring, laughing, playing, sharing, creating, listening, and loving. As a part of the Christian education and outreach of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the program is consistent with concepts advocated by the United Methodist Church on the nurturing of young children.

Curriculum and Development

Infants

The Trinity experience begins at three months old! Here our babies receive all the love and care necessary for a successful transition from home to school. The ratio of infants to adults is 3:1. Our infant program is a ½ day program with each day ending at 1:00 p.m. Two, three, or five-day options are available for your convenience.

Toddlers

Movement, exploration, enthusiasm…our toddlers learn through play both in the classroom and on the playground. The ratio of toddlers to adults is 5:1. Our toddler program is a ½ day program with each day ending at 1:00 p.m. Two, three, or five-day options are available for your convenience.

Two-Year-Olds

The focus shifts to the child’s social environment and interactions with one another in the two-year-old classes. Many new experiences occur with art and activity. The ratio of children to adults is 9:1 with an aide shared by both two-year-old classes. Two-year-olds have both ½ and full day options, and can attend three days (M-W-F) or five days per week.

Three-Year-Olds

Continuing to build on the earlier skills, the three-year-old classes provide opportunities for fine motor skills, name and letter recognition, and working together as a group. The ratio of children to adults is 10:1 with an aide shared by both three-year-old classes. Three-year-olds have both ½ and full day options, and can attend three days (M-W-F) or five days per week.

Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)

This is a pivotal year in the life of your preschooler! All of the skills and foundations come together, and the main focus of this class is to prepare your child for kindergarten! We are intentional about providing lots of time for fun and friendship! The ratio of children to adults is 20:2. Your pre-kindergarten options include both ½ day and full day options. We are a VPK (Voluntary Prekindergarten) provider for the state of Florida; to receive the discounted tuition, you must register with the Early Learning Coalition.
