Facilities, Weddings, and baptisms

Our facilities have grown over the years to the point that they now span over half a city block. They include an auspicious main sanctuary, intimate James Chapel, comfortable and versatile Moor Hall, classrooms, Trinity Preschool facility, meeting rooms, parlor, and library. Outside are our Prayer Garden, Memorial Garden, and children's playground. The use of Trinity's facilities is overseen by the Trustees.
On this page, read about Facility Rental, Prayer and Memorial Gardens, Weddings, and Baptisms.

Facility Rental

Rental requests are often made by outside groups for the use of Trinity's facilities, including the large sanctuary, intimate chapel space, and fellowship hall. Those wishing to rent facility space at Trinity should submit an application to be reviewed by the Trustees. Before submitting an application, interested parties should review the Facilities Use Policies. Please see below for links to policies and request forms.

Prayer and Memorial Gardens

The Sewell Prayer Garden

In 1987, Mrs. John T. (Nelle) Sewell provided funds for the establishment of the Prayer Garden in memory of her husband. The garden was beautifully landscaped with plants, benches, and a three-tier fountain. In 2008, in conjunction with the renovation of Moor Hall, the prayer garden and landscaping were upgraded and redecorated with beautiful circular stone work.

The garden now contains a central pergola, ample seating, and many blooming plants, making it an ideal spot to sit and enjoy the beauty of peace of God's creation or engage in quiet study or prayer.

The Memorial Garden

In 2010, in response to the desire of many church members to have a suitable location on church grounds for the permanent placement of cremains, and through a generous anonymous gift, a portion of the Sewell Prayer Garden was designated as the Trinity Memorial Garden. For those who choose cremation, the garden is a sacred place on church grounds to memorialize the gift of a precious life. Individuals may have their cremains scattered within the garden to symbolize the return to nature of their earthly bodies.

For more information about the Memorial Garden, contact Rev. Wayne Curry.

Weddings

Congratulations! Your marriage is a sacred undertaking and we at Trinity United Methodist Church are honored to serve you during this important time. Trinity welcomes services of Christian marriage for both members and non-members. The wedding booklet provides an overview of details that will answer many of your questions in your wedding planning. Based upon our long experience, these guidelines have been set forward by the Trustees of Trinity United Methodist Church to aid in the success of your wedding.

Please note our policies are subject to change.

Baptisms

The Baptismal Covenant is God’s word to us, proclaiming our adoption by grace, and our word to God, promising our response of faith and love. Because baptism initiates us into Christ’s whole Church and not only into a denomination, United Methodists recognize all Christian baptisms and look upon baptism as something that should unite, rather than divide, Christians.

Persons of any age are suitable candidates for baptisms because Christ’s body, the Church, is a great family that includes persons of all ages. Children and others who have not reached the developmental stage of making decisions for themselves are presented by parents and/or sponsors (godparents) who make the same profession of faith that a candidate would make and who promise to nurture the candidate(s), in their family and in the church family, so that they will come to accept God’s grace for themselves, to profess their faith openly, and to lead a Christian life.
