serving locally
As a 200-year-old church, our roots in the Tallahassee community go deep. We are planted in the center of this dynamic capital city, where both the opportunities and the needs are great.
Our Creation Care Ministry leads sustainability efforts and works to educate others about the beauty of our environment and our obligation to protect it.
Our Local Missions Committee works to connect resources with those in need in our local environment. We would love for you to find a place where your passion meets the needs of our community.

Creation Care
Trinity’s Creation Care Ministry recognizes that all creation is the Lord’s and works toward sustainability inside the walls of Trinity and outside in the Tallahassee Community. See our three main areas of focus below.

Focus Area 1:
Supporting the iGrow Garden on Dent Street by volunteering labor and donating nonperishable food items to the food box.

Focus Area 2:
Providing leadership and awareness for ways in which we can incorporate sustainable practices in our church, our homes, and our community.

Focus Area 3:
Promoting outdoor recreational activities to experience and appreciate the beauty, the interconnectedness, and the wonder of God’s creation.
See the Trinity app and News and Notes emails for scheduled events and activities.

Local Missions
Our Local Missions Committee sponsors monthly collections for various local organizations,
and we are actively involved in the local mission opportunities listed below.

Bear Sunday

The Local Missions Committee identifies community agencies that will be recipients of the hundreds of new bears donated by our congregation on “Bear Sunday” each February. Trinity members bring bears and other stuffed animals, lining the walls of our worship areas with cute, comforting creatures. After the service, these stuffed friends are collected and delivered to various organizations that have been identified in advance. This is a powerful ministry that touches the lives of many children.
Disaster Relief Team

Our Disaster Relief team comes alongside families and individuals in the wake of hurricanes and other natural disasters to provide aid and help clean up yards and homes and remove debris.
Frenchtown/Griffin Heights Pantry
We maintain an ongoing collection of non-perishable food items and toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, lotion, deodorant, and disinfectant wipes) and appreciate your donations. Leave items on the shelves in the Welcome Center.
Hats for Friends

Throughout the year, hats and scarves are knitted or crocheted and then donated to those in who lack warm clothing during the winter months and to chemo patients at local hospitals. Knitting ability is helpful but not necessary. Hats are created on round looms, making it easy for those with limited experience to participate. Training on using the round looms is provided.
Mac and Cheese for ECHO
We maintain on ongoing collection of boxed macaroni and cheese to provide to ECHO, a faith-based non-profit organization by providing emergency resources and support services to people in need in the Big Bend.
Mats for Friends
Ever wondered what to do with all those clean, dry, used plastic shopping bags? Trinity has joined with others around the country who are repurposing these bags to make something extremely useful (and in great demand) – a water-resistant, cushiony sleeping mat for people who are homeless.
MLK Day Meals on Wheels

The Local Missions Committee works with Elder Care Services to organize teams of volunteers for this annual day of service, providing a holiday for the regular Meals on Wheels volunteers. Jobs include assembling food boxes, organizing coolers for distribution, and delivering meals to homes on given routes.
Prayers and Squares

Our Prayers and Squares Ministry creates quilt for those who are experiencing illness or other difficulties. Congregants pray as they tie knots in the quilts, and the recipients know that they have been covered in the prayers of their Trinity family. This group meets on the third Saturday of each month, September through May. New members are always welcome. There are many tasks that do not require sewing abilities.
Refugee Ministry

We assist refugee families who have been resettled in our community on their path to self-sufficiency. Volunteers are needed to assist with tutoring, accessing services, medical appointments, employment search, housing search, and other individual needs. This effort is coordinated by Daniel Diaz.
Residing Hope Children's Home

Residing Hope, formerly known as the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, has been serving abused, neglected, and troubled children for more than 100 years. Their mission is empowering children and families to experience the transforming love of Christ through holistic care. Trinity supports Residing Hope through gifts, donations of practical supplies, and special "fifth Sunday" offerings throughout the year.
Snack Packs

Every Monday and Thursday at 11:00 a.m. a group of Trinity volunteers distributes bags of snacks and hygiene items to our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Our Snack Pack team welcomes monetary donations for the purchase of food items and accepts donations of personal care items like shampoo, soap, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and socks. Personal care items can be delivered to the Welcome Center. Occasionally, the group holds snack pack assembly days, asking others to assist in preparing bags to be given out.
